Description:
Wendell is over 40 years old and has the beginnings of wrinkles and grey hair to show for it. He has a beard and a slight "dad bod," which his metabolism kept to a minimum. He wears prescription lenses with glasses or goggles, depending on whether he's in or out of costume.
The Wizzard wears a welder's suit lined with gadget pouches, padding, and ceramic plates. His backpack contains additional gadgets, parts, and tools that he carries in the field. The suit helps protect him from attacks, and the helmet also provides visual protection. His look retains the Whiz Kid's red and yellow color scheme, but with more subdued tones to reflect his maturity.
History:
Wendell Kitchner was a teenager when he stumbled across a chemical formula buried in the woods. He drank the formula on a dare and gained superhuman speed. With some encouragement from his best friend, Wendell became the superhero known as Whiz Kid. When he found himself pursued by the terrorist group VIPER, which had created the metahuman enhancement formula, Whiz Kid sought the help of the Sentinals.
Whiz Kid joined the Sentinals and served in good standing for several years. Not only did he learn to use his powers, he broke out of his shyness and gained the self-confidence he needed to ask his high school crush Laura Hunter to the Senior Prom. Laura's then boyfriend Brad Martin had bullied Wendell and broken up with Laura for her best friend. Impressed by Wendell's offer, Laura said yes. Wendell and Laura dated each other through high school and college, and they married each other after graduation. The Whiz Kid retired when Laura became pregnant with their son Andrew.
As he grew older, Wendell's superspeed powers declined. He pursued a lucrative career as a robotics engineer and devoted himself to his family. He even changed the family name to Jacobs to keep them safe. Wendell never imagined that Drew would gain superhuman powers and become a hero himself, but that's exactly what happened. When Drew fought a VIPER strike team and joined the Sentinals, thereby following in his footsteps, Wendell felt incredibly proud of his son and worried for him at the same time. Wendell had retired from superheroics to be there for his family, but now he has come out of retirement to be there for his son.
